If you are upgrading from an older version of the Gill & Macmillan reader application, please uninstall the Gill & Macmillan application before installing the new version. The current version was made available for download on the 25th October 2011. If you have downloaded the reader application before then, please download the new version now with up-to-date bug fixes.
There are two parts to installing the download version of a FlipBook an your computer:
- Downloading and installing the ’Gill & Macmillan Desktop’ reader application.
- Downloading the FlipBook file and opening it with the reader application.
Note: You will only need to download the reader application once, regardless of how many FlipBooks you use.
Step 1
If you have not already done so, download the reader application
by clicking on the link - Gill & Macmillan Desktop
Step 2
Right click on the downloaded folder entitled, ’GMDesktopInstaller_Win’ and extract all files to a folder on your computer.
Step 3
Launch the Installer package by double clicking on the ’GMDesktopInstaller’ file. This is a bundled installer, so you will only need to use this file to install all the components.
Step 4
Follow the prompts given by the installation program to install the application.
Step 5
When installation is complete the reader application will launch automatically.
Note: The reader application is now installed. You can repeat the next steps when you wish to install an additional FlipBook.
Step 6
Return to the page where you ordered the FlipBook. There is a download link available on that page for the book you have ordered. It is listed at the end of Step 2 on the title page.
Step 7
Download the FlipBook (.fb) file to your computer and make sure you know the location where the file is being downloaded to.
Step 8
Return to the reader application and click the ’Add’ button.
Step 9
Browse to and select the FlipBook file and click open.
Step 10
The reader application will prompt you for a License Key for the book. This key can be found in the order history section of the ’My Account’ area of the website or in the email sent to you after adding the flipbook to your basket and placing your order. Once you have entered this license key, the flipbook will be available on your computer. You must be connected to the Internet to register the license key with the flipbook, but you can then use the FlipBook without having to be connected to the internet.
